BACKGROUND:

In October 2018, the Council approved the award of Bid 18-204 to Core & Main LP for purchase of large diameter water meters, for a two-year term from date of award through December 31, 2020. The contract includes three one-year options to extend and on November 4, 2020 the Council approved the first option renewal.

DISCUSSION:

Core & Main LP performed well during the first contract extension. During the past year, the Water Utilities purchased 333 large water meters from this vendor. The meters range in size from 1.5 inches to six inches. All meters were delivered in a timely manner and with no issues. All new, large diameter water meters will perform directly with the new AMI system.

Core & Main LP agreed to extend the contract with no increase in cost. The term of the second option year is January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022, with one option year remaining.

FISCAL IMPACT:

CIP: WU019, WU020

Water meter replacements are expensed to the infrastructure account listed below as part of the annual capital improvement program. A total of $1,350,000 is budgeted for replacement water meters under WU020 and WU019 in 2022.
