BACKGROUND:

The City Council awarded Contract 18-258 to Meade Inc. on December 18, 2018 for a two-year term from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020, with 3, one-year options to extend. Option year two was approved by the City Council on November 4, 2020 and option years two and three were approved on December 7, 2021 for a two-year term from December 17, 2021 to December 17, 2023 with no option years remaining. Change order #1 was approved on December 17, 2023.

 

The purpose of this contract is to provide all labor, equipment and tools necessary for installation and maintenance of the underground, overhead 12kV, 34kV and 138kV electric utility facilities including: fiber optics, street lights, and directional boring.

 

DISCUSSION:

The City Council recently awarded Contract 23-251, Civil and Duct Work and Contract 23-152, Underground Distribution, Directional Boring and Services to Meade Electric Company Inc. on December 5, 2023 which replaces the work covered under Contract 18-258.

 

Due to the new contract’s terms beginning on January 1, 2024, this change order is requested to extend the contract term an additional 14 days through December 31, 2023. Meade Inc. has agreed to maintain the existing rates.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no direct fiscal impact to this change order, this change order extends the contract two weeks.
