BACKGROUND:
On April 7, 2021, the City Council awarded Contract 21-132 to Beery Heating and Cooling, Inc. (Beery) for $118,930 for a one-year term with three one-year options to extend. The purpose of this contract is to provide HVAC-D services to the Department of Public Works (DPW), the Department of Water Utilities (Water), and the Department of Electric Utilities (Electric), that are either not in the scope of in-house staff and/or to augment and improve the efforts of in-house staff. Within the awarded amount, $38,401 was allocated specifically for Water-related projects. Of this amount, Water has a current remaining available balance of $14,176.

DISCUSSION:
During this term, Beery installed cooling for critical equipment at Northwest Waterworks (NWWW) and serviced cooling equipment at Springbrook Water Reclamation Center (SWRC). Water operates and maintains numerous facilities that need environmental control for the preservation of assets and to ensure the integrity of these facilities, the equipment they house, and their purpose for serving the Public.

This change order is being requested to complete the following projects:
1. Install cooling at Well House 16;
2. Install dehumidification at Pressure Adjusting Station 15B;
3. Replace heating at West Waterworks;
4. Repair existing equipment at NWWW and Southeast Waterworks (SEWW);

These additional projects were not foreseeable at the time of contract execution. With recent extreme heat and humidity, the need to protect newly installed equipment and electronics has become pronounced.
