BACKGROUND:
The other related items to the North Aurora Road project on the City Council agenda are:

* 19-1091, Adopt a resolution approving the third amendment to the intergovernmental agreement between the City of Naperville and the Naperville Township Road District for the construction engineering services and construction of North Aurora Road between Frontenac Road and Fairway Drive
North Aurora Road is a minor arterial road with an average daily traffic of approximately 22,000 vehicles. It functions as a primary connection between the Cities of Naperville and Aurora as well as providing access to numerous businesses, two subdivisions, and the Route 59 Metra station.
The section of North Aurora Road between Pennsbury Lane (1,500 feet west of the EJ&E Railroad in Aurora) and Fairway Drive (west of IL Route 59) is the only section of this road with a single lane in each direction for several miles to the east and west, creating a bottleneck. Widening the section of North Aurora Road between Pennsbury Lane and Frontenac Road is included separately with the underpass improvement project (CIP Project #BR005). Construction of the railroad bridge project is anticipated for 2022 to 2023. Construction of the road widening project is scheduled for 2020 to 2021.
