BACKGROUND:
Sponsored by the Naperville Jaycees, the Last Fling is scheduled for August 31 - September 3, 2018. The event will take place on Rotary Hill and along Jackson Avenue. The event features live entertainment, food vendors, and a carnival.
DISCUSSION:
The Labor Day Parade and the Fling Mile will be held on Monday. The NCAA Central Region Women's Triathlon Championship hosted by North Central College will also be held on Monday. While the triathlon is not part of the Last Fling, it does occur during the event. As such, staff has prepared one ordinance covering the entire weekend and it would be appropriate to approve the triathlon concurrently with the components of the Last Fling. Due to low runner participation, the Rooster 5K was cancelled for 2018.
Maps are attached to depict road closures, detours, and temporary No Parking/Tow Zones for the entire event. Specific traffic control details are shown in the ordinance.
