BACKGROUND:
In July 2020, the City Council approved Bid 20-076 for the Southeast Water Works Booster Improvements Project, to Dahme Mechanical Industries, Inc, in the amount of $225,000. The Notice to Proceed was sent on July 23, 2020 and work commenced immediately. The completion date for the project is currently March 1, 2021.
No previous change orders have been approved for the Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) installations at the South Operations Center and the Northwest Waterworks.
DISCUSSION:
This change order is for an additional 32 days in order for the work to be completed. Within the past four months, Dahme Mechanical Industries, Inc. and its subcontractor, Graybar, experienced significant delays related to COVID-19, specifically in the areas of manufacturing, delivery, and testing of the VFD equipment. Upon Council approval, the contract completion date will extend to April 1, 2021. No additional funds are needed.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP: WU007, WW034
Pump installations are expensed to the infrastructure account listed below. A total of $1,640,000 is budgeted for WU007 and WW034 in 2020. The requested change order will not impact the contract award. The project is expected to remain within budget.
