BACKGROUND:
The Riverwalk Planning, Design, and Construction Committee (PDC) is a subcommittee of the Riverwalk Commission that has been meeting since at least 2006. It is not formally established within the City of Naperville’s municipal code. PDC topics are generally focused on more detailed design and planning issues such as the update to the Riverwalk 2031 Master Plan.
DISCUSSION:
The Riverwalk Planning, Design, and Construction Committee has not met since December 2025 (6 months) due to a lack of agenda items. When PDC meetings have been held, most of the Riverwalk Commissioners are typically present, and a large portion of the meeting is duplicated at the Riverwalk Commission meeting. The current meeting format requirements have also changed the character of the PDC discussions to some degree.
The Riverwalk Commission could consolidate PDC topics into the monthly meeting. If more time is needed to discuss complex issues, a special meeting of the Riverwalk Commission could be scheduled at the current PDC date and time.
