BACKGROUND:
At the February Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) committee meeting our consultant provided us with exhibits to get our input. Additionally, Kevin Schoolcraft, a representative of Ryan Companies, was present to provide their company's thoughts. Ryan is constructing the building at the corner of Martin and Washington. Mr. Schoolcraft offered to have his design team review the Riverwalk Commission consultant's work and then provide a design for what they were considering.
The Ryan Companies corner signage and site design was shared with the committee at the April PDC and Riverwalk Commission meetings. At both meetings there was discussion about respecting the corporate branding of the hospital with their signage and that we really needed to concentrate on the corner layout. Additionally with the traffic signal posts and mast arms that are located on all corners of the intersection there was justification to revisit the preliminary layout and design of the intersection elements.
DISCUSSION:
Attached is a revised preliminary layout of the east and northwest corners of the intersection. This design attempts to accommodate the existing traffic signal equipment and signage along with the Ryan Companies design on the southwest corner. Attachments include both the new revised preliminary layout along with the Ryan Companies design for their corner.
