BACKGROUND:
In March 2023, the Water Utilities issued a request for a quote for Work Order 22-067F seeking to retain the services of a qualified and experienced consultant to survey portions of Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve, delineate wetlands and wetland buffer zones and identify the anticipated permitting requirements related to excavation and maintenance activities at several specified locations. Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. (CMT), an approved shortlist vendor, was awarded the work order for these services.

As part of the request, the City has the option to utilize the services of the successful vendor for future phases.

DISCUSSION:
Due to CMT's performance on the Springbrook Prairie Topographic Survey and Wetland Delineation work order, staff recommends the City exercise its ability to retain CMT for the engineering design for Springbrook Prairie Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation.

CMT will be providing the following engineering services:
1. Preparation of construction drawings for the replacement of two manholes with a new interceptor sewer drop structure with a vortex flow drop insert. The construction target for this phase is the fall/winter of 2024.
2. Preparation of construction drawings for the cured-in-place-pipe rehabilitation of approximately 8,600 feet of 42-inch sanitary sewer interceptor pipe. The construction target for this phase is the fall/winter of 2025.
3. Regulatory permitting coordination with agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, DuPage County Stormwater Management, Illinois Department of Natural Resources and DuPage County Forest Preserve, among others.
