BACKGROUND:

In 2017, the City completed a Request for Qualifications (RFQ 17-133) to shortlist engineering firms to perform land surveying services on an as-needed basis for a variety of City projects.

 

Staff solicited quotes from shortlisted firms to perform a topographic survey of River Road and a portion of Aurora Avenue. The survey will be used by City staff to design and construct a water main replacement project for spring/summer of 2023. This project will replace and upsize aging and deficient water main. The following streets will be surveyed:

 

                     River Road                                          - Aurora Avenue to Raymond Drive

                     Aurora Avenue                     - River Road to Wild Cherry Road

Per the RFQ document, the vendor is selected based upon qualifications and/or costs depending upon the complexity of the projects. In addition, the City retains the right to use the services of a successful vendor for future phases of a specific project.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

CIP: WU004 - Water Distribution System - Rehabilitation/Replacement

 

Land surveying cost is expensed to the account number listed below as part of the Water Capital Program. A total of $7,941,000 is budgeted for WU004 in 2022. The requested award is within budget.
