CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM

ACTION REQUESTED:
title
Approve the award of Cooperative Procurement 22-079, Water Utility Service Truck Unit 774, to National Auto Fleet Group for an amount not to exceed $183,205
body

DEPARTMENT: Department of Public Works

SUBMITTED BY: Richard Dublinski, Director

BACKGROUND:
Unit 774 was reviewed and approved by the Fleet Economic Committee and Fleet Services Manager for replacement in the 2022 budget. Vehicles are scored for replacement based on four criteria: age, usage, condition and repair costs. Recommending a vehicle for replacement requires a score of 28.0 or greater. Unit 774 scored 28.78.

DISCUSSION:
Unit 774 is a 2011 Ford F550 Service Truck used by the Water Utility's Repair & Excavation Division daily to maintain the City's water supply and sanitary collection infrastructure.

Unit 774 will be replaced with a 2022 Ford F600 with a maintainer service body and crane. The unit is specified with an onboard air compressor, generator, hydraulic units, and crane. This eliminates the need for additional tractors, trailers, and trucks at a job site. Reducing the extra equipment at the job site improves efficiency and safety while meeting the City's sustainability efforts by reducing fuel consumption and emissions at those job sites. The unit is specified consistent with other units to maintain fleet conformity.

The new vehicle is available on the Sourcewell Cooperative, an approved cooperative through National Auto Fleet Group, Contract #091521-NAF. EJ Equipment is the local servicing dealership.

Using the City's specifications, National Auto Fleet Group has quoted the 2022 Ford F600 with maintainer service body and crane in the amount of $183,205.

The current vehicle will be traded-in to EJ Equipment, the local servicing dealership for National Auto Fleet Group, for $15,000 as part of the purchase of the new vehicle.
