BACKGROUND:
The city manager awarded Contract 21-180 to Omega Sign and Lighting, Inc. on April 27, 2021 with a completion date of September 1, 2021. The contract was to replace several of the LED display boards on the existing Central Parking Facility (CPF) electronic parking space display sign located on Jefferson Avenue. Many boards are no longer functional, and unfortunately, due to changes in manufacturing, the replacement boards now available are not compatible with the sign. In order to be fully functional, the city must replace the entire sign. The remaining functional display boards will be salvaged and kept as replacement parts for signs at the other parking facilities.

DISCUSSION:
This change order is requested to extend the original project completion date by 51 days. While verifying the sign measurements before ordering the sign, the contractor determined the initial manufacturer's quote contained a number of inaccuracies. Since the City intends to reuse the existing sign post foundations, it is very important that these measurements be correct. The contractor partnered with the manufacturer to get the dimensions corrected and then had to wait for a revised quote to order the sign. The contractor has since been informed by the manufacturer that the sign is expected to be shipped on September 27, 2021. The contractor anticipates installing the sign within one week of delivery and has requested a new completion date of October 22, 2021.
