BACKGROUND:

On September 15, 2020, the City Council approved Bid 20-271, Improvements to City Well 28 to Boller Construction, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $1,739,800 plus a 3% contingency.  The work includes the reinstallation of the existing well pump with a new motor, replacing valves and pipes in the well meter vault, replacing and relocating the motor control center, making improvements to the chlorine system, access driveway resurfacing, installation of a chlorine scrubber, and associated SCADA improvements.

The completion date for the original award was noted as April 30, 2021, however, the correct completion date per the offer to contract is July 31, 2021.

DISCUSSION:

The COVID-19 pandemic caused manufacturing delays on the Byron Jackson 450 hp submersible motor. As such, Boller Construction Company, Inc is requesting 76 additional days for the completion of the project. No additional funds are requested for this work.

The Change Order is necessary to allow for the contractor to obtain the submersible motor for the project, installation, testing, and the City’s final acceptance.

The completion date has been revised for this project to October 15, 2021 and no additional funds are requested.
