body

DEPARTMENT:                     Transportation, Engineering and Development

SUBMITTED BY:                     Michael Prousa, TED Project Manager

BACKGROUND:

In the fall of 2018, the City of Naperville received several resident traffic concerns in the Westside Neighborhood. The City contracted with a consultant, Kenig, Lindgren, O’Hara, Aboona, Inc. (KLOA), to conduct a neighborhood traffic study. A neighborhood traffic study consists of conducting a study of the existing traffic conditions within a neighborhood area and developing recommendations to create a consistent striping, traffic control, signing and traffic calming plan.

At the December 3rd, 2020 TAB meeting, the Westside Neighborhood Traffic Study recommendations were presented and discussed. TAB members asked City staff to bring back more information on several items from the draft report.

DISCUSSION:

City staff has prepared a response to several locations that were discussed by TAB as locations that TAB needed more information and data on. These locations are:

                     Jefferson Avenue and West Street

Crosswalks around Washington Junior High School (Includes Eagle Street and Spring Avenue)

                     Douglas Avenue Improvements

                     Douglas Avenue and Parkway Drive

                     Jefferson Avenue Improvements

                     Mill Street and Douglas Avenue

Additional traffic on Mill Street and Webster Street because of the one-way conversion at Eagle Street.

These locations are referenced in Attachment 1 with more detail. The remaining recommendations for the Westside neighborhood are in the recommendation matrix which is Attachment 3.
