BACKGROUND:
At the April 21, 2020 City Council meeting Nancy Chen spoke in response to recent anti-Asian incidences in Naperville and recommended a proclamation or resolution be considered by the City Council denouncing these incidences and taking steps to advance diversity and inclusion within the community. Bill Liu also spoke against these incidences and requested the City Council condemn any prejudice and xenophobia in Naperville.
DISCUSSION:
At that meeting, the City Council expressed support for a proclamation or resolution. This resolution is presented in support of the diversity of our community and also denouncing all acts of racism, intolerance and unlawful discrimination. The following agenda item includes specific action items to further diversity, equity and inclusion within Naperville.
