BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
Not required.

BACKGROUND:

Per Section 6-3-5:5.1 (Procedures for Processing Petitions: Effective Periods for Petitions) a petition shall be valid for a period of 2 years from the date on which the petition is filed with the Transportation, Engineering, and Development Business Group.

DISCUSSION:

DR Horton submitted an application for the Polo Club development with the TED Business Group on March 28, 2018.  While the petitioner has been actively working on the development plans for the Polo Club project, this petition has not yet been fully processed through the City Council and will therefore expire on March 28, 2020, unless the effective period is extended by the City Council.  Staff accordingly requests that Council extend the application deadline an additional year (set to expire on March 28, 2021) to provide the petitioner with supplemental process time.

Note: If Council does not direct staff to prepare ordinances and agreements for the Polo Club development through the preceding item, no City Council action to extend the effective date of the petition is needed.
