BACKGROUND:
Unit 332 was reviewed and approved by the Fleet Economic Committee and Fleet Services Manager for replacement in the 2020 budget. Vehicles are evaluated for replacement based on four criteria: age, usage, condition and repair costs. A vehicle must receive a score of 28.0 or greater to be recommend for replacement. The vehicle exceeds the minimum score as shown in the table below.

DISCUSSION:
Unit 332 is a 2009 International MedTec ambulance used by the Fire Department - Operations Division in a reserve capacity to provide patient care and transport 24 hours per day in the event of medical emergencies. The unit also provides medical emergency support during special events throughout the City.

The replacement Unit 332 will be a 2021 Freightliner M2 Chassis with Horton ambulance conversion. The new unit will be assigned to fulfill Unit 331's slot in a front-line capacity. Unit 331, a 2013 International MedTec, will then be reassigned to fill the reserve slot for Unit 332. Using the City's specifications, Foster Coach Sales, Inc. has quoted the ambulance in the amount of $261,800. The unit is specified to match the two most recent ambulance purchases, maintaining fleet and operational conformity.

When Unit 341 was replaced in 2019, the original surplus plan was to auction the unit. The most recent ambulance sold at auction for $6,500 less fees, for a net sale of $5,451.20. Foster Coach Sales has quoted a trade-in value of $7,000 for Unit 341 and $7,000 for Unit ...
