BACKGROUND:

North Central College will host its annual Homecoming Parade on Saturday, September 28, 2019.

DISCUSSION:

The route for the North Central College Homecoming Parade is depicted on the attached map. Approximately 200 people are expected to attend and the parade route streets will be closed intermittently from 11:00 a.m. until approximately 1:30 p.m. To manage this, the floats and participants are spaced so the police department may close Chicago Avenue for short intervals to allow for safe crossing. This method has been successfully implemented in previous years. The streets of the parade route are opened to vehicular traffic as soon as the Police Department determines it appropriate, based on public safety.

Staff will post informational signs along the parade route during the week September 16, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

North Central College will be billed for all City services required to support this event.
