SUBMITTED BY:                     Dawn Portner, Special Events Coordinator

BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
The SECA Commission has reviewed the request and, because it was submitted outside of the application process, is recommending it be denied and that the Naperville Heritage Society be directed to apply for funding in 2020 during the established application timeframe.

BACKGROUND:

At its April 29, 2019 SECA Grant Fund Workshop, the City Council directed staff to accept SECA Grant Fund application(s) from the Naperville Heritage Society and for the SECA Commission to review the application(s) and provide a recommendation on request(s).

DISCUSSION:

On May 2, 2019, the Naperville Heritage Society submitted a $15,000 SECA Grant Fund request to illuminate four historic Naper Settlement buildings (Martin-Mitchell Mansion, Century Memorial Chapel, Pre-Emption House Visitor Center, and the Meeting House) from November 25, 2019 to the end of the holiday season.  The new light project is intended to supplement the existing display sponsored by the Naperville Sunrise Rotary and be a part of the new Yuletide Festival and Fair as well as the 2019 Cup of Cheer House Walk sponsored by the Naperville Garden Club.

The application included one estimate from Northern Holiday Lighting in the amount of $14,400 and covers a one-year lease of the equipment and labor for light installation.

FISCAL IMPACT:

If approved, there would be no impact to the SECA Grant Fund.
