BACKGROUND:
The Inaugural Naperville 10K and 5K Run is a new event on the 2019 Special Events Calendar and is replacing the Naperville Women's Triathlon. The Run is sponsored by 10XEM, LLC. who also sponsors the Naperville Women's Half Marathon and 5K in addition to the Naperville Sprint Triathlon. The 10K/5K event will start on Eagle Street and Aurora Avenue and finish at Centennial Beach on Sunday, June 9, 2019.

DISCUSSION:
The route and specific temporary traffic control information for the Inaugural Naperville 10K and 5K Run is depicted on the attached map and ordinance. The race route will be No Parking, Tow Zone from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will be posted accordingly. The race route streets will be closed beginning at approximately 5 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m. Streets will be opened to vehicular traffic and the No Parking, Tow Zone signs removed as soon as the Naperville Police Department determines it appropriate based on public safety.

Staff will post informational signs along the race route no later than Monday, June 3 and 10XEM, LLC. will send notification of the run to residents and businesses along the race route no later than two weeks prior to the event.

The organizer has partnered with the Naperville Park District and secured the use of Centennial Beach for finish line and the after-event celebration.

All insurance requirements will be fulfilled prior to the issuance of the Special Event Permit. In addition, 10XEM, LLC. will be billed for all city services required to support the event.
