BACKGROUND:
In March 2019, the Transportation, Engineering and Development (TED) Business Group issued Bid 19-005 seeking a contractor to perform micro-surfacing and thermoplastic pavement marking removal and replacement in various locations throughout the City. This is an annual program to significantly extend the life of pavement. The City will micro-surface and restripe 9.5 miles of roadway throughout the City limits, including the auto test track. The streets highlighted in red on the attached map will be micro-surfaced in 2019.

The City's test track has areas containing a specialized high friction surface. This high friction surface area cannot be micro-surfaced over due to its unique properties. The area is not large enough to hire a specialized contractor to apply the product, so the high friction product was bid as an alternative.
