BACKGROUND:

In May 2018, the Electric Utility issued Bid 18-129 seeking to procure three 72.5kV circuit breakers for its Ogden Substation. These circuit breakers will replace nearly 30-year-old equipment that requires a considerable amount of maintenance on an annual basis.

The circuit breakers are designed to interrupt fault current thereby protecting critical assets of the Utility including cable and power transformers. Installation of these circuit breakers will be completed by Electric Utility crews and all relay upgrades and protection settings will be designed by Electric Utility engineers. Completion of this work will enhance reliability of service to customers along Ogden Avenue and to the downtown area.
