BACKGROUND:
A Water Utilities Chevrolet 2500HD pickup truck was reviewed by the Fleet Economic Committee and Fleet Services Project Manager and approved for replacement in the 2018 budget. Vehicles and equipment are evaluated for replacement based on four criteria: age, usage, condition and repair costs. A vehicle must receive a score of 23.0 or greater to be recommended for replacement. The vehicle exceeds the minimum score as shown in the table below.

DISCUSSION:
The Water Utilities and Department of Public Works - Fleet Services Division recommend the purchase of one 2018 Ford F-550 XL 4x2 Chassis Cab with crane body and crane attached. The new Ford F-550 with crane will maintain conformity in the City’s fleet, which minimizes operational, service, maintenance, repair, safety and training costs including minimizing costs associated with parts inventory. The pickup with crane is available on the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative, an approved cooperative, through Currie Motors Fleet, Contract No.146.
Using the City’s specifications, Currie Motors has quoted the Ford F-550 XL 4x2 chassis
in the amount of $43,985 less the municipal discount of $9,763. The total award amount for the vehicle is $111,078. The current Chevrolet 2500HD will be sold through one of the approved auction sites. The Ford F-550 with crane body will be delivered in approximately 100 days.

The 2018 Ford F-550 XL 4x2 Chassis Cab is expensed to the vehicles and equipment account below. A total of $104,000 has been budgeted for the replacement of Unit 731 in CY2018. The slight overage will be accommodated by savings in other line items.
