BACKGROUND:

In 2005, City Council established the Social Services Grant Program to provide funding for activities that benefit identified community needs. For FY 2019 (May 2018-April 2019) a total of $500,000 has been allocated to the SSG program.

DISCUSSION:

At the December 5, 2017 City Council Workshop, Council reached consensus on SSG allocations as presented. Furthermore, Council agreed that if the City’s CDBG award exceeds the estimated $425,000 staff was directed to transfer eligible activities from the SSG program to CDBG. These additional SSG funds would be reallocated to the Kids Matter Healthy Proactive Development of Naperville Youth Program. Any reallocation will adhere to HUD regulations which require that the amount of CDBG Public Service program funding must not exceed the annual 15% cap.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$500,000 from annual Food and Beverage Tax revenue will be allocated to FY 2019 SSG program.
