BACKGROUND:
In March 2016, City Council awarded Contract 16-188, Concrete Restoration Program, to Mondi Construction for an amount not to exceed $526,757.50. The original contract is effective March 15, 2016 through December 31, 2017, with three, one-year options for renewal.

The Water Utilities manages this contract to restore concrete damaged as a result of the Public Utilities and Public Works system repairs and maintenance projects. Work includes sidewalk repairs, driveway repairs, barrier curb (in alleys) and curb and gutter repairs in streets. The contractor is required to be on site monthly (at a minimum) during construction season or as directed by City staff, if adequate work is available.

DISCUSSION:
Mondi Construction provided excellent service during the original term of the contract and agreed to renew the contract with no price increases for an additional year. Staff recommends the extension of Contract 16-188 for the first option year. The term of the extension is January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018. Two, one-year contract renewal options remain on this contract.

Identified through the Water Utility's Organizational Review process, the concrete restoration program will be moving to DPW in 2018. This contract aligns with a number of other landscape and restoration contracts currently managed by DPW. In that same spirit, DPW has transferred the maintenance of the City's storm water pump stations to the Water Utility. This shift in maintenance responsibility takes advantage of the Water Utility's expertise in the operation and maintenance of pump stations and pumping equipment.
