BACKGROUND:
The Water Utilities issued Bid 17-172 seeking a vendor to rehabilitate 15,996-feet of sanitary sewer pipeline using low or no dig lining technologies to reduce cost and disruption to the community. Sanitary sewer pipeline lining is a major component of the City's strategy to reduce system leaks from storm water infiltrating through pipe cracks and fissures that take up system capacity during wet weather events. Lining the sanitary sewer provides a seamless, leak-free pipe that will maintain structural integrity for approximately 50 years. Reducing leaks and preserving system capacity helps reduce the number and severity of sanitary sewer back-ups.

To secure the lowest possible pricing, this bid specified two competing lining technologies (Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) and Cured-In-Place Thermosetting Resin Pipe (CIPP)).
