BACKGROUND:
The Water Utilities issued Bid 17-181 seeking a qualified vendor to replace six slide gates in the aeration contact tanks at the Springbrook Water Reclamation Center (SWRC). The existing slide gates are nearly 40 years old and are at end of life there expected useful life. The gates are severely deteriorated and now no longer close completely or seal properly. The loss of working gates inhibits staff's ability to perform maintenance. Repairs to existing gates cannot be made due to the severity of corrosion to the gates frames and seats; therefore, replacements are required.
