BACKGROUND:
In April 2019, the City Council awarded Bid 19-077, 1.5-inch Water Meters Replacement Services, to Calment City Plumbing Co., Inc. for a two-year term, from date of award through December 31, 2020, with two one-year options to extend. The contract provides for the replacement of approximately 1,200 1.5-inch diameter water meters and reading devices.
DISCUSSION:
Calment City Plumbing has performed satisfactorily during the original contract term. During the current term, Calment City Plumbing has installed 881 1.5-inch water meters in both commercial and residential properties. The Water Utility has received several compliments from utility customers regarding the level of professionalism shown by Calumet City Plumbing.
Calment City Plumbing has agreed to maintain current unit pricing with no increases. The first contract renewal term is January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021 with one option renewal remaining.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP #: WU020 - Water Meter Replacement
Water meter replacements are expensed to the infrastructure account listed below as part of the capital improvement program. A total of $1,700,000 is proposed for WU020 as a part of the 2021 Budget. Pending council approval, the requested award is expected to be within budget.
