BACKGROUND:
The Water Utilities operate and maintain 566.5 miles of sanitary sewers. Remote closed-circuit television (CCTV) inspection is an important process for operations and maintenance as well as CIP planning, infiltration and inflow investigations, customer service, sewer cleaning programs, and preventing sanitary sewer overflows. The Internal Condition Assessment/Inspection program is also part of the Water Utilities' IEPA-required Capacity, Management, Operation and Maintenance (CMOM) Plan.
Currently, in-house staff inspects approximately 75,000 feet of sanitary sewers annually. Bid 23-264 is designed to assist with meeting the goal of completing 10% internal pipe inspections annually.
In November 2023, the Water Utilities issued Bid 23-264, Sanitary Main CCTV Inspection, for a contractor to perform an Internal Condition Assessment of 186,303 linear feet of sanitary sewer via CCTV. Pipe sizes range from eight to 18 inches in diameter and materials include vitrified clay pipe, ductile iron pipe, polyvinyl chloride, reinforced concrete, and cured -in place. Bid 23-264 also includes light cleaning of all sanitary sewer pipes to be inspected.
