BACKGROUND:
The City Manager awarded Work Order 22-067C to Ciorba Group on May 2, 2023, with a completion date of September 29, 2023.
On April 16, 2024, the City Council approved Change Order #1 to extend the design completion date from September 29, 2023, to December 1, 2024. This change in the design schedule was necessary because construction was shifted from 2024 to 2025.
During the design phase, staff identified approximately 25% more water main to be designed than what was in the RFP. Accordingly, on November 5, 2024, the City Council approved Change Order #2 to account for additional costs to satisfactorily complete the engineering design.
The purpose of Work Order 22-067C is to prepare construction drawings and technical specifications for the replacement of the water main on Ogden Avenue from Washington Street to Wright Street and Washington Street from Ogden Avenue to Bauer Road.
DISCUSSION:
Change Order #3 is requested to extend the completion date from December 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025.
IDOT review of the project was delayed, which in turn delayed the issuance of the Highway Permit and advertisement of the project. Extending this required consultant design work into 2025 will ensure all comments and plan revisions are addressed.
Staff recommends approval of Change Order #3 to ensure all tasks related to the engineering design may be completed as specified. There is no change in the consultant scope or fee related to this Change Order request.
