BACKGROUND:
At its November 18, 2025 meeting, the City Council directed staff to add funding to the 2026 budget for a new Police Mobile Crisis Intervention Team (MCIT). Three police vehicles are necessary to support the six new MCIT personnel. These new units will be assigned as units 195, 196 and 198.
DISCUSSION:
Units 195 and 196 will be 2026 Ford Police Interceptor Utility SUVs and Unit 198 will be a 2026 Ford F150 Responder pickup truck. The units are specified to maintain fleet and operational conformity.
The new units are available on the SPC Cooperative, an approved cooperative, through Currie Motors Fleet, Contracts #204 and #208. Using the City’s specifications, Currie Motors Fleet has quoted the SUVs in the amount of $98,348 ($49,174 per unit) and the pickup truck in the amount of $49,653 for a total of $148,001.
The vehicles will be delivered in approximately six months from date of award.

New vehicle purchases for the Police Department are expensed to the Vehicles and Equipment account listed below. The Police Department included $230,700 in the 2026 budget to purchase and upfit three new vehicles for the addition of the MCIT unit. The award requested is within the amount budgeted for this expense.
