BACKGROUND:
The Information Technology (IT) Department has a capital project to invest in network segmentation over the next two years. Network segmentation divides a large network into smaller, isolated sections to improve security, performance, and manageability. Due to the segmentation, a security breach in one segment is less likely to spread to the entire network.
The current switches at the City’s fire stations are nearing the end of useful life and do not have the features and capabilities needed for network segmentation.
DISCUSSION:
Staff has identified an approved cooperative contract, OMNIA Partners (TDSynnex) #OMNIA-R200803, through Sentinel Technologies, Inc. for this procurement.
Included in this procurement are networking features, maintenance, and support for a three-year term upon award.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP#: CE168 - Network Segmentation Enhancement
The requested award will be charged to the account number listed below. The 2025 budget includes $300,000 for the completion of this project. The award amount is $182,986.68, which is favorable to the budget.
