BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
NA
BACKGROUND:
Every year the Naperville City Council is required to adopt a balanced budget which includes operating and capital improvement costs for the upcoming fiscal year which runs from January 1 through December 31. Riverwalk Commission recommendations are taken into consideration when City staff prepares and enters the capital improvement requests for the Naperville Riverwalk.
DISCUSSION:
Attached is a spreadsheet showing the various proposed Riverwalk Commission projects from 2025 through 2031. Both design and construction costs are shown, and when construction is anticipated to span multiple years the cost is broken down by year.
The following is planned for 2025:
1. Commencement of the construction of the park improvements at 430 S Washington Street
2. Detailed design for the West Parking Lot BMP improvements
3. Construction of the Eagle Street Gateway improvements
4. Preliminary design concept development for the Grand Pavilion
5. Riverbank ecological restoration
6. Annual Riverwalk Rehabilitation
The submittal will show the proposed projects for 2025 through 2029 since the City Council only looks at the upcoming five years. I have shown our projects through 2031 to line up with the Master Plan.
Please review the attached proposal and provide your thoughts and feedback at the meeting. All budget information for 2025 needs to be entered by August 2nd, so what we agree to in July is what will be entered.
