BACKGROUND:

The subject property is located on the east side of Plainfield-Naperville Road, south of Oswego Road, with a common address of 536 Plainfield-Naperville Road.  The petitioners and owners, Bill and Beth Knicker, are currently building a new single-family residence on the subject property.  In order to serve the residence with water, the petitioners propose to extend the watermain from the existing watermain on Oswego Road south to the subject property.  Since the new watermain will extend across property not owned by the petitioners, the City has agreed to share in the cost of the watermain extension.

DISCUSSION:

As noted above, the petitioners plan to connect to the existing waterman located under Oswego Road and construct new watermain south extending toward the subject property.  Approximately 472’ of 8” watermain will be constructed off-site (north of the subject property) and 71’ of 8” watermain will be constructed on-site (on/adjacent to the subject property).

Per the attached cost sharing agreement, the City will reimburse the petitioners for the cost of construction of the off-site watermain at a cost not to exceed $134,980. This includes an amount not to exceed $22,000 for the engineering costs for the off-site watermain. The petitioners are subject to all requirements of Section 7-3-6:2 (Subdivision Regulations: Required Improvements: Contract Participation over Fifty Thousand Dollars) of the Naperville Municipal Code.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$134,980 in reimbursements for the new public watermain.
