BACKGROUND:
On February 6, 2024, The City Council awarded Contract 24-032 to EJ USA, Inc. for a two-year term from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2025, with one two-year option to extend. Grates and manhole covers are purchased for general replacement within the Water Utilities and in conjunction with the annual storm water management and system upgrade projects managed by the Department of Public Works.
DISCUSSION:
During the original awarded term, EJ USA, Inc. provided excellent service with no concerns. Based upon the vendor’s performance, staff recommends extending the contract for the first and only option year. The vendor agreed to maintain the same terms and pricing provided under the initial award.
The term of this option year is January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027, with no option years remaining.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP#: SW001
Cast iron manhole covers and grates are expensed to the accounts listed below. The 2026 Budget includes $60,000 in Operating Supplies and $200,000 in Infrastructure for SW001. The requested award is accommodated within both budgets. Cost for the second year of the contract will be budgeted for during the 2027 budget cycle.
