BACKGROUND:
On March 1, 2023, the City Manager awarded Contract 22-114-3, Trillium Lift Station Rehabilitation Design to Ciorba Group, Inc., with an anticipated completion date of September 30, 2024. The purpose of this contract is for Ciorba Group to provide engineering design and construction engineering assistance for the Trillium Lift Station Rehabilitation project.
The construction start date was delayed from 2024 to 2025 due to a project priority adjustment in 2024. Therefore, on September 17, 2024, the City Council approved Change Order #1, which granted Ciorba Group an additional 457 days to provide the above services.
DISCUSSION:
Construction began in 2025. Due to unforeseen supply chain delays involving utility piping valves and sewage pumps, the contractor requested an extension of the construction completion date. The City Council has approved this request, extending the construction completion date to April 30, 2026.
To allow Ciorba Group, Inc. to continue providing engineering services throughout the construction phase and to prepare the as-built plans after completion, staff recommends awarding Ciorba Group an additional 365-day contract extension for engineering services.
The revised contract completion date for engineering services will be December 31, 2026.
