BACKGROUND:
Following the repeal of the campaign contribution disclosure ordinance, the City Council directed staff to present recommendations to extend speaker sign-up deadlines.
On December 5, 2023, staff proposed continuing to accept written comments, extending the speaker sign up deadline, and promoting a call-in sign-up option.
DISCUSSION:
After Council deliberation on December 5, staff was directed to put the following in place for the January 16, 2024 City Council meeting:
1. extend the online speaker sign-up deadline to 6:30 p.m.
2. continue to allow the submission of written comments until 4:00 p.m.
3. include a call-in option as an alternative to online registration for speaker sign-up
4. bring back an ordinance eliminating the 30-minute time limit for Public Forum
