BACKGROUND:
The Information Technology (IT) Department manages and supports several Wi-Fi networks for the City. These include a network restricted to City employees and devices, a network for City contractors and guests, and some limited public access networks[SG1][RD2]. These Wi-Fi networks are comprised of wireless access points (AP) and associated controllers. The APs in the current network are nearing end of life and need to be replaced with newer models. The previous APs were various models procured and deployed over time. This project will align APs on a single make/model for operational efficiency and effectiveness.
DISCUSSION:
This cooperative procurement is requested to procure 175 APs to replace the old APs in the current Wi-Fi network. Staff has identified an approved cooperative contract, OMNIA Partners, (TDSynnex) OMNIA-R200803, through Sentinel Technologies, Inc., for the procurement of Cisco 9164 Wireless Access Points.
The term of this contract is six months from the date of the award.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP #: CE151 - Wireless Network Upgrade
Upgrades to the wireless network access points are expensed to the Technology account listed below and are budgeted as part of the Capital Improvement Plan. A total of $300,000 is included in the 2024 budget to upgrade the wireless network. The requested award is within the project budget.
