BACKGROUND:
The Electric Utility (Utility) has been performing condition assessments which have identified units that need to be repaired and painted. By proactively repainting faded or rusted electrical equipment, the Utility has been able to significantly extend the life of the equipment. To date, over 350 devices have been repaired and painted since 2020 and there are just under 150 needing repairs currently with more being added daily through the inspection process.

The purpose of this contract is to maintain an on-call contractor to provide the services including welding, patchwork and painting to maintain metallic exteriors of transformers, switches, fuse cans and other metal electrical equipment for the Utility.

Bidders were asked to provide pricing for each type of equipment as well as an estimated time and material cost. The Utility intends to paint 150 units currently scheduled for repairs as well as any additional equipment that is found during the inspection process. Budgeted funds, in conjunction with the provided unit pricing provided by BP&T Construction, will be used to perform and complete this work.

The term of this contract is from date of award to June 1, 2025, with two, one-year options to extend.
