BACKGROUND:
The City Manager awarded Contract 16-219 to LaSalle Staffing on October 3, 2016, for a two-year term from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019, with three, one-year options to extend. The purpose of the contract is to secure multiple vendors to provide temporary staffing services on an as-needed basis. In October 2020, Human Resources released a Request for Proposals to review and select a vendor or vendors for securing temporary staffing services. LaSalle Staffing did not submit for the new request and could not be considered for a new contract.
The Information Technology (IT) department currently has a temporary employee from LaSalle Staffing working on a project and will not complete the project for approximately ten more weeks. IT has trained and worked with this temporary staff member and is recommending to retain this temporary staff member to complete the project.
DISCUSSION:
A change order is requested to extend the contract by adding time to allow for the temporary employee to complete the project for which they were temporarily assigned. The new term will begin January 1, 2021 through March 12, 2021. Sufficient funds are available on the contract to cover the related expense.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP: N/A
Temporary employees hired on an as-needed basis are expensed out of other professional services housed within each department’s budget. IT will expense this change order out of the account listed below. A total of $50,000 is budgeted for temporary staffing services for IT in 2021.
