BACKGROUND:

This event was first held in 2016 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Lantern. Since then, the owners of the Lantern have sponsored Old Naperville Days each year in August.

DISCUSSION:

The event will again be held on Chicago Avenue from noon - 6:00 p.m. and feature a selection of bands, a beer garden, and food from several Downtown restaurants.

Specific temporary traffic control information for Old Naperville Days is depicted on the attached map and the ordinance details the No Parking/Tow Zones in the area.  Streets will be closed beginning at approximately 5:00 a.m. and will open to vehicular traffic at approximately 9:00 p.m. or as soon as the Naperville Police Department determines it appropriate based on public safety.

The event organizers and the Downtown Naperville Alliance (DNA) have notified all affected businesses of the event and road closures.

All insurance requirements will be fulfilled prior to the issuance of the Special Event permit.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The organizers of Old Naperville Days have received a total of $11,946 in SECA Grant funds to cover the cost of City Services ($7,268) and Operations ($4,678) required for the event.  Any City service costs in excess of the grant award will be billed to the organizers.
