BACKGROUND:
The Department of Public Works - Public Buildings Operation (DPW-PBO) retains electrician services on an as-needed basis for work beyond the scope of in-house staff and/or to augment and improve the efforts of DPW-PBO.
On February 2, 2022, the City Manager approved the award of Contract 21-394 for a one-year term from February 2, 2022, to December 31, 2022, with four one-year options to extend the contract. Option Year One was approved by City Council at their December 6, 2022, meeting.
DISCUSSION:
During Option Year One, Volt Electric, Inc. replaced the emergency generators at Fire Stations 3 and 4. Additionally, they replaced the electric service that feeds Fire Station 6 and the DPU-W water tower. They have also provided electric services required to support the installation of new technology and other construction/renovation projects requested in the CIP by other departments.
Based on the vendor's performance, DPW-PBO recommends extending the contract for the second option year. Volt Electric Inc. has agreed to maintain the rates and terms provided for in the contract.
In addition to providing electrician services for building systems, an additional $50,000 is being requested to support the installation of new technology and construction/ renovation projects proposed by other departments.
The term of the second option year is January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, with two option years remaining.
