BACKGROUND:
The Information Technology (IT) Department is regularly reviewing and assessing tools and technologies that could improve network performance, network reliability, and improve user experience. As part of this, the IT Department recommends extending certain network features within the Cisco’s Identity Services Engine (ISE). This would enable a richer set of performance policies across a wider range of networking and device profiles.
DISCUSSION:
The features and capabilities within Cisco’s Identity Services Engine (ISE) enhance network performance reliability. This is done by identifying devices that access the City’s various networks and enforce set policies by optimizing the network resources and services used by that device. The enhanced features addressed in this procurement provide greater flexibility and capability in optimizing network performance and will address several known issues.
Staff has identified an approved cooperative contract, National IPA, now Omnia, Cooperative Contract 2018011-01 through CDW Government, for this procurement.
