BOARD/COMMISSION REVIEW:
On February 2, 2023 the Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) approved establishing two-way stop controls at various uncontrolled intersections throughout Naperville. Approved (6-0).
BACKGROUND:
The Transportation Team fielded a resident concern regarding a four-way intersection with no stop control. Along with the subject intersection, TED staff investigated other intersections where local streets intersected with streets classified as arterial, collector, and neighborhood connector.
DISCUSSION:
The Illinois Vehicle Code allows local authorities to give preference to through-streets by establishing stop controls on intersecting side streets. Staff recommends establishing two-way stop controls at the local streets listed below to clarify right-of-way assignment for motorists as well as address potential sight distance limitations.
