BACKGROUND:
On March 19, 2024, the City Council awarded Contract 23-217 to Dahme Mechanical Industries, Inc. with an anticipated completion date of February 28, 2026. The project scope includes the installation of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for the three remaining pumps, replacing aged pipes and valves, lighting upgrades, and associated Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) improvements. The work also includes the installation of associated electrical conduits, wires and concrete pads.
DISCUSSION:
Unforeseen delays in the equipment supply chain, particularly involving valves and related components, impacted the project schedule. These materials were not delivered until the end of October 2025. As a result, the project start date was postponed to minimize construction impacts on station operations. Therefore, the contractor has submitted a request for a 124-day extension. Consequently, the revised project completion date will be July 2, 2026.
This Change Order is necessary to provide the contractor with adequate time to procure the required utility piping valves, complete installation and testing, and allow for the City’s final acceptance. The requested extension will not negatively impact operation of the existing station.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CIP #: WU051- Northwest Waterworks Improvements
The requested Change Order is for an extension of time only and does not increase the value of the contract.
