BACKGROUND:
In 2022, the Police Department's budget included a multi-year capital improvement project to update key spaces within the facility, beginning with the installation of security fencing around the Police Department campus. The project continued in 2023 with the remodel of the sergeant and commander work areas in the Patrol Division. That project continues with the renovation of the work area in the Investigations Division in 2024.
In December of 2023, the City Manager approved the request to retain Kluber, Inc. to perform an assessment of the entire Investigations area and complete architectural and engineering drawings.
DISCUSSION:
The architectural and engineering drawings and specifications for this project were completed by Kluber Architects + Engineers based on multiple site visits and discussions with Police Department stakeholders. The scope of work includes the demolition and removal of several walls and existing ceilings. Saw cutting the existing foundation to allow access to a large unused area, that will become the SRU office, will accommodate up to 10 workstations. Plumbing, electrical, HVAC and fire alarm and suppression systems are all being adjusted to accommodate the new work layouts. Due to the multiple trades required to complete this project and the need for precise coordination impacting 40 personnel in this area, this work will be managed by the City's JOC contractor Robe, Inc.
The final completion date for the contractor work associated with this project is December 31, 2024.
