BACKGROUND:
The landscaping restoration program restores landscaping at private residential properties, commercial properties and public right-of-ways damaged as a result of Public Utilities (Electric and Water) and Public Works maintenance projects. Work is on-going during construction season and includes turf restoration, hardscape restoration, landscape planting, sprinkler repair and other landscape related repairs.
In April 2018, City Council awarded Contract 17-045 to Alaniz Landscape Group for a two-year term with three options to renew. The purpose of the contract is to perform landscape restoration as needed. The first option year was approved by Council on March 19, 2019 and the second option year was approved by Council on March 3, 2020.
DISCUSSION:
The Alaniz Landscape Group performed well during the first and second option years. In 2020, Alaniz Landscape Group performed restoration at more than 670 locations throughout the City.
Based upon the vendor's performance, the Department of Public Works would like to extend the contract for the third option year. Alaniz agreed to maintain rates and terms provided under the current contract.
The term of the third option year is May 1, 2021 through April 30, 2022 with no option years remaining.

The landscaping restoration program is expensed to the operational services accounts listed below. A total of $187,000 is budgeted for various landscaping needs in 2020. The requested award is within budget.
