BACKGROUND:
The DuPage County Division of Transportation has again agreed to renew the Intergovernmental Agreement to allow the City to provide mowing and herbicide services on 75th Street, both rights-of-way and the medians, from Modaff Road to Palomino Drive. The City has provided this service for 20 years.
DISCUSSION:
The attached agreement provides that the County would increase the reimbursement to the City from $51.50 to $60 per acre per mowing to cover the mowing and herbicide expenses for the next two mowing seasons. In the past agreement, the County would reimburse for mowing services for up to 23 mows. Beginning with this agreement, the County decreased their service level (and allowable reimbursement) to 16 mows, which would allow for mowing every two weeks. The County’s annual reimbursement is estimated at $33,632. The City’s service level is higher, with weekly mows, spring and fall clean-up, and herbicide totaling $47,750. As such, the total cost for the City to provide a much higher level of service than if DuPage County maintained the right-of-way is $14,118.
The attached agreement will provide DuPage County funding for the mowing and herbicide services through November 30, 2027.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City will receive $33,632 in reimbursement for mowing and herbicide services on 75th street from Modaff Road to Palomino Drive.
