BACKGROUND:
The centrifuge and polymer feed systems were installed at the Springbrook Water Reclamation Center (SWRC) in 1995 as part of the Phase II expansion which increased the capacity from 18.75 MGD to 22.50 MGD. The feed systems are critical to the dewatering and solids operations at SWRC.

Both centrifuge control panels and polymer feed units have reached the end of their service life and require replacement. On March 20, 2024, the City Council awarded the SWRC Centrifuge Control Panel Replacement Phase I and Polymer Feed System Replacement, to Connelly Electric Company. It includes replacing one Centrifuge control panel and one polymer feed unit. The project is currently under construction and nearing completion. Once finished, the remaining centrifuge control panel and polymer feed unit will need to be replaced.

On January 2025, the Water Utilities issued Bid 24-242, SWRC Centrifuge Control Panel Replacement Phase II and Polymer Feed System Replacement project. This phase includes the removal and installation of a new centrifuge control panel, the removal and installation of a new polymer feed system, and associated SCADA improvements. The work also involves installing associated electrical conduits, wires and concrete pads.
