BACKGROUND:
The Department of Public Works - Public Buildings Operations (DPW-PBO) retains
electrician services on an as-needed basis for work beyond the scope of in-house staff
and/or to augment and improve efforts of DPW-PBO.

On February 2, 2022, the City Manager approved the original award of Contract 21-394
for a one-year term from February 2, 2022 to December 31, 2022, with four one-year
options to extend the contract. Change Order #1 was approved by the City Council on March 4, 2022 to replace transfer switches at the Municipal Center. Change Order #2 was approved by the City Council on April 19, 2022 for electrical services projects at Fire Station 3 and 4.

DISCUSSION:
During the original term extension of the contract, Volt Electric Inc. replaced the transfer switches at the Municipal Center necessary to insure the seamless transition to generator power in the event of an electric outage. Based upon the vendor's performance, DPW-PBO recommends extending the contract for the first option year. Volt Electric Inc. has agreed to maintain the rates and terms provide for under the contract.

In addition to providing electrician services for building systems, funds are being requested to complete the following projects as part of capital improvement project (CIP) MB 223 -Generator and Transfer Switch Replacement:

Fire Station 5 at 2191 Naperville Plainfield Rd requires a 20 KW generator replacement. The existing 20RZ will be replaced with a New Cummins C20N6 208/120-V three phase g...
